00:03:22.670 00:03:22.680 contactor coil sometimes ACS will have
00:03:25.640 00:03:25.650 nothing in series with the contactor
00:03:27.470 00:03:27.480 coil that just means that the red and
00:03:29.899 00:03:29.909 white wire will go straight to the
00:03:31.939 00:03:31.949 contactor whereas in my case it goes
00:03:35.420 00:03:35.430 into the white wire it goes through that
00:03:37.220 00:03:37.230 power saver switch and then comes back
00:03:38.689 00:03:38.699 out it goes into this wire nut turns
00:03:41.059 00:03:41.069 into this yellow wire and goes on the
00:03:42.860 00:03:42.870 other side of the contactor all right so
00:03:45.530 00:03:45.540 reason number one wire contactor plunger
00:03:47.780 00:03:47.790 may not be pulling in is because your
00:03:49.640 00:03:49.650 furnace power switch is off maybe you
00:03:51.709 00:03:51.719 were changing the filter and it got
00:03:53.209 00:03:53.219 bumped off or maybe some kids were
00:03:54.890 00:03:54.900 playing around and turned it off in fact
00:03:56.899 00:03:56.909 while I'm on that topic if the inside
00:03:59.300 00:03:59.310 fan inside your house if the blower
00:04:01.039 00:04:01.049 motor is not working then you should put
00:04:03.649 00:04:03.659 the contactor and hold and go figure out

00:04:19.009 00:04:19.019 overflow switch especially if you live
00:04:21.439 00:04:21.449 in Florida that seems to be a common
00:04:23.120 00:04:23.130 problem there or if you have an attic
00:04:25.159 00:04:25.169 unit those will almost all the time have
00:04:27.740 00:04:27.750 a condensate overflow switch so that
00:04:30.050 00:04:30.060 thing will basically interrupt the power
00:04:31.610 00:04:31.620 going out to your contactor if your
00:04:34.159 00:04:34.169 drain line is plugged and the water is
00:04:36.560 00:04:36.570 backing up that float switch will the
00:04:38.240 00:04:38.250 water will go up and trip the switch and
00:04:39.920 00:04:39.930 kill the power to it that way you don't
00:04:41.689 00:04:41.699 have water overflowing and damaging your
00:04:43.760 00:04:43.770 ceilings and everything so if you have a
00:04:45.649 00:04:45.659 condensate overflow switch check that
00:04:47.959 00:04:47.969 out and make sure your drain is not
00:04:49.550 00:04:49.560 plugged up and number three is a bad
00:04:51.740 00:04:51.750 thermostat or a thermostat working
00:04:53.570 00:04:53.580 incorrectly now I say working correctly
00:04:55.879 00:04:55.889 because perhaps it could just be dead or
00:04:58.850 00:04:58.860 weak batteries when batteries are weak

00:05:23.360 00:05:23.370 gently tugging on each wire and make
00:05:25.129 00:05:25.139 sure that each one of them is making a

00:05:28.129 00:05:28.139 replaced your thermostat and you have an
00:05:30.440 00:05:30.450 R and an RC pin make sure you have a
00:05:33.050 00:05:33.060 jumper between R and RC because R means
00:05:36.230 00:05:36.240 power and RC means power for cooling so
00:05:39.290 00:05:39.300 if you don't have a jumper between the
00:05:40.430 00:05:40.440 two you have no power for cooling and of
00:05:42.440 00:05:42.450 course the thermostat could just simply
00:05:44.270 00:05:44.280 be bad and an easy way to find out if
00:05:46.250 00:05:46.260 it's bad or not is just to bypass it
00:05:48.230 00:05:48.240 either at the thermostat or at the
00:05:49.879 00:05:49.889 control board I think the best if you're
00:05:52.159 00:05:52.169 trying to find out if the thermostat is
00:05:53.420 00:05:53.430 bad or not is to bypass it at the
00:05:55.430 00:05:55.440 thermostat by putting a little jumper
00:05:57.230 00:05:57.240 between R and Y if it kicks on you know

00:07:02.990 00:07:03.000 weed whacker and didn't even notice that
00:07:04.550 00:07:04.560 he had chopped his thermostat wire in
00:07:06.500 00:07:06.510 half so of course nothing was working
00:07:08.029 00:07:08.039 but anyways do investigate your
00:07:09.740 00:07:09.750 thermostat wires outside and inside for
00:07:11.990 00:07:12.000 any kind of damages and reason number 5
00:07:14.180 00:07:14.190 is a bad 5
00:07:15.580 00:07:15.590 delay board now my unit does not have
00:07:18.100 00:07:18.110 that on here so I can't show you it but
00:07:20.620 00:07:20.630 it's just a little either a black box or
00:07:22.840 00:07:22.850 a little control board at your outside
00:07:24.909 00:07:24.919 unit basically what that does is prevent
00:07:27.550 00:07:27.560 your AC unit from short cycling like if

00:07:31.390 00:07:31.400 like that your AC unit if it turns off

00:08:48.490 00:08:48.500 your two meter lead set it to voltage
00:08:49.930 00:08:49.940 and then your thermostat wire that comes
00:08:51.820 00:08:51.830 out of the house and into your unit the
00:08:53.380 00:08:53.390 brown wire that has the red and the
00:08:55.329 00:08:55.339 white wire put your meter leads on the
00:08:57.460 00:08:57.470 red and the white if it has 27 volts
00:08:59.710 00:08:59.720 coming out that means whatever is
00:09:01.780 00:09:01.790 interrupting your power the low voltage
00:09:03.490 00:09:03.500 is going to be outside if you don't have
00:09:06.010 00:09:06.020 27 volts or 24 volts that means the

00:12:10.980 00:12:10.990 tend to be a little bit more complicated

00:13:03.840 00:13:03.850 at least in Minnesota they don't I don't
00:13:05.220 00:13:05.230 know maybe some other states have a lot
00:13:06.630 00:13:06.640 of them but if your unit has a
00:13:08.250 00:13:08.260 transformer there's a chance that that's
00:13:10.050 00:13:10.060 bad as well and that's what's causing
